From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft was on a charter to drop two passengers off at the beach at Crescent Bay, WA located about 10 miles west of port angeles, WA. Upon arrival overhead at Crescent Bay, the pilot circled the landing area three times, noting benign conditions. The aircraft landed at approximately 11:00 am without incident in calm water and began taxiing toward the beach to drop off the passengers. While taxiing closer to the beach, the pilot noticed some swell activity on the water . He then turned back from the beach and started to taxi out toward open water. While idle taxiing, a wave broke just ahead of the aircraft and washed over its floats. The pilot immediately surveyed all engine indications and noted no discrepancies. He then tried to taxi to other beach locations to deplane the passengers. There were no other suitable beaching sites, due to water conditions or terrain. The aircraft then flew to port angeles, WA without incident and dropped the passengers at boathaven marina. After the engine was shut down at the dock, the pilot noted all three blades of the propeller were bent.
