From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

AA-1 American aircraft crashed approx. 5.6 miles from Morgan, UT. Airport (42U).N5642L took off from runway #3 to the north. This is not normal, according to pilot witness. The usual takeoff direction depending winds is to the south. The morning of accident, winds not a factor. Taking off to the north, pilot got himself boxed in a valley 2.8 miles north of Morgan, Utah airport , which reulted in crash, impacting left wing and cartwheeling and a fire resulted destroying aircraft and killing pilot. Frost on aircraft parked outside was reported by pilot witnesses the morning of accident. So lift could be a factor in accident if not properly cleaned off of wings. This could not be determined. It was determined by NTSB and myself, there flight control continuity and inspection of engine and components all seemed to be operating normally at time of accident. At this time awaiting further information results from medical on pilot.
