From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

When the airman departed bethel (bet) for Toksook Bay (ook), a flight manifest was received by the airman which stated the winds were from 050 degrees at 23 knots, gusting to 38 knots. The winds reported by the ASOS at the time of the incident were 060 degrees at 38 knots gusting to 42 knots. The landing runway was determined to be 34.

The airman overflew the field and entered the traffic pattern for runway 34. After touching down, directional control was lost in the strong crosswind. As the aircraft departed the runway, the nose gear collapsed, causing the propeller to strike the ground, damaging it and the nose cowling. The aircraft came to rest in the snow to the left of the runway.

The calculated steady state crosswind at the time of the incident was determined to be 36 knots. The maximum demonstated crosswind component of the Cessna 207 is 17 knots.
