From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot of N207MY, while executing a high hover taxi, backed into a parked a-star helicopter (N79FX) causing minor damage. The pilot stated that he knew that there was an aircraft parked behind him, but was distracted by another helicopter parked to his right side (which was being pre-flighted by its crew). The pilot began a high hover at an altitude of approximately 10 feet and backed away so as to distance himself from the parked aircraft to his right. He began to execute a left pedal turn when he felt a "snag" and elected to land and investigate. As he moved forward, he remembered that there was a parked aircraft behind him and realized that the "snag" was probably him hitting that parked aircraft. He landed without further incident. Three witnesses at the aircraft parked to his right corroborated his account. Damage to aircraft N207MY was limited to scratched paint on the landing skids and a torn float bag on the aft, left landing skid. Weather at the time of the incident was VFR with a broken ceiling at 3,900' and light winds. Damage to the parked aircraft included scratches and dents on the rotor blades. Pilot was drug tested iaw company policy. Pilot also stated that he had at least 12-hours of rest between his last landing the night prior (11/18/2012) and his arrival at the airport. He volunteered that he had flown 8.4 hours the day prior because he was forced to hold by ATC and therefore inadvertently exceeded 14 CFR 135.267(b) duty limits. He produced his flying log, which showed the following flight times for the preceding 4-days: nov 15 – 4.3 hrs; nov 16 – 6.5 hrs; nov 17 – 6.7 hrs; nov 18 – 8.4 hrs.
