From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The airman had recently purchased the aircraft in Michigan and was flying it home to Oregon. In the airman's pilot log, an entry shows an aircraft checkout with 2.o flight time and 6 takeoffs and landings. The airman who did the check out was not a CFI. On the second leg of the flight home, the airman noted in his pilot log "right brake touchy". The airman landed in des moines on the third leg and on the taxi in the aircraft left the taxiway. This was investigated by the dsm FSDO. When the airman was contacted, he indicated that the aircraft was in North Platte and the he had ground looped it there. The airman flew 4 legs before landing in North Platte where the ground loop and prop strike occurred. The airman indicated that on the landing in North Platte, he had encountered a strong crosswind on landing rollout and had applied brakes causing the right brake to lock. This was followed by a ground loop and prop strike.
