From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Upon approaching korl for landing, the pilot accessed and listened to the current ATIS broadcast and the prevailing winds were 020 degrees@15G13KTS. The pilot then requested a wind check while on short final and the winds were 030 degrees @ 15G23KTS for landing and he continued the landing. When the pilot began his flare for touchdown the winds were gusting and changed direction and speed. A 2O kt airspeed loss was encountered and his use of crosswind techniques were insufficient to overcome the winds. The rwy was dry with no precipitation. The pilot decided against making any sudden and abrupt maneuvers close to the ground. He noted the surrounding area was flat and grassy, thereby electing to land and allow the wind to blow the acft. Off the runway edge instead of fighting against the gusty conditions with the flight controls. The acft. Hit a rwy edge light and one of the prop blades sustained a small nick. No injuries or further visual damage were noted.
