From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

According to a statement from one of the aircrewman, they departed myu on rwy 5. The co-pilot was at the controls during take off. At approximately 1000 feet MSL an audible "snap" was heard and the engine began to loose power and sparks were seen coming from the exhaust. The pic/captain took over the controls. The smell of burning oil was present. The co-pilot confirmed that the torque indicator was at zero and the internal turbine temperature (itt) was above 805* c and rising. The pic/captain initiated emergency procedures and tried to restart the engine. The engine failed to restart. The crew elected to make an emergency landing on the frozen bay. Upon touchdown, the airplane became uncontrolable after the right hand main landing gear broke away from the airplane. The airplane received significant damage before coming to a stop. The crew checked the 7 passengers on board for injuries. According to the co-pilot, all of the passengers said they were a little shaken but otherwise fine. The crew assisted the passengers with evacuation through the passenger air stair door. Shortly after, people from Mekoryuk arrived at the scene with 4-wheelers. The passengers were taken to the local clinic.
