From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed tampa, FL (tpa) in-route to burlington, NC (buy). During cruise flight the aircraft ran out of fuel and the pilot successfully dead sticked the aircraft onto Mackall Army Airfield (hff). During the flare the pilot noticed he had not lower the gear and did so during the flare. The nose gear lowered and locked, the main gear did not lower in time. During the interview with the pilot he stated that he visually inspected both tanks prior to departing tampa and when the engine stared sputtering he kept switching the fuel selector back and forth in an effort to restart the engine. No fuel was observed during the inspection of the left fuel tank. Right fuel tank was unaccessible due to the height of the wing. The flight was operated by flight express inc an 135 operator out of orlando Florida. Information from the investigation will be forwarded to the orlando FSDO for further investigation.
