From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 9, 2013, about 1230 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 210L, experienced an electrical failure while flying to the west of Bessemer Airport, Bessemer, Alabama (eky).

The pilot and one passenger departed eky and flew west approximately 15-20 minutes and then the aircraft?s electrical power failed.

The pilot stated that he stayed west of Bessemer Airport to trouble shoot the aircraft?s electrical problem.

He stated that he turned every radio off as well as, anything electrical. After five minutes of trouble shooting the aircraft?s electrical problem, he maneuvered the aircraft into the pattern for landing at Bessemer Airport.

He cycled the landing gear selector switch again but there was no sound from the gear pump, and

There were no green lights for landing gear being down and locked, nor any amber lights for landing gear being retracted.

He activated the manual gear pump and pumped the gear down until the pump was hard and could not be moved. He stated that he could visually observe, with a mirror, that the main gear and nose gear was extended.

During touch down the aircraft veered to the left of the runway and the aircrafts main landing gear collapsed and the aircraft stopped on the runways edge.

The on site incident investigation revealed minor damage to the empennage. The VHF antenna and other antennas on the belly of the aircraft were severed. The left elevator received major damage.
