From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 27, 2013 at 1245 local, inspectors from this office arrived at 257 carpenter road in Rupert, GA to investigate the report of an accident that occurred on February 24, 2013 at a private grass Airstrip at that location. The landowner, privacy data omitted granted permission and escorted the inspectors to the location. The pilot in command, privacy data omitted stated that while landing the aircraft veered left then right and damaged the left wing and right wing upper and lower sections as well as gear truss damage. The nature of the damage involved primary win structure of the lower left and right wings.

The PIC statement is as follows:

?Late in the day February 24th 2013, I was flying the Bucker jungman out of a private grass strip close to Rupert, Georgia. During roll out very close to taxi speed the plane swerved to the left at which point the wing tips caught the grass as did one side of the prop blade and the plane came to a full stop on the grass runway. At which point I turned all switches off and the aircraft was exited without injury or problem. Then I placed the aircraft into the hangar where it is currently secured as noted in photographs.?

Investigation, accident site and hangar: 02/27/2013:

Upon arrival at the site the following observations were made.

The aircraft received substantial damage to the left and right lower wings involving the front spars. The damage is consistent with the loss of the left main wheel causing the aircraft to dig into the soft runway surface and pitch up then left. The right side wing upper and lower surfaces were damaged during correction inputs. The left main gear trusses and supports also were damaged. Flight control continuity was verified as well as the engine controls. Closer examination of the left main wheel revealed that a crack in the weld area was not detected during routine maintenance and inspections and propagated to the point that the remaining steel broke off. The part number for the axle is #81 in the parts manual pn casa-1.141 page 15/41.

From casa Bucker drawings the part number for axle is 131.210-2.02 a service difficulty report was filed. The owner will have the right axle examined for cracks and repair as necessary.
