From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

From the daily report: experienced loss of oil pressure and complete engine failure on short final to rwy 4R. Landed without further incident.

Pilot's statement: "initially on climb out oil temperature and pressure was normal. The first indication of a problem was rising oil temperature eventually resulting in an edm alarm for high oil temperature. I had initially attempted to stabilize the temperature by reducing power. Oil pressure was normal at that point. Despite reducing power oil temperature continued to rise. I was watching the oil pressure at the same time and then saw the pressure starting to decrease, but still in the green. Shortly thereafter the oil pressure dropped to zero. The engine continued to operate normally for about 60 seconds before it started shaking. On initial roll out the engine windmilled normally but then came to a stop before I could exit the runway. Pulling the prop through by hand I was only about to get about 1 turn before the prop hit a solid resistance."

As the FAA filed it
