From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During the third attempt to land on rwy 14 at ksep, at approximately three feet above the rwy, the airman stated that a down gust caused the aircraft to strike the nose wheel first breaking the nose wheel and subsequently causing the propeller to strike the runway. The aircraft bounced, returning to approximately 20 feet above the ground and drifted to the left of the runway due to a crosswind (190/17G24) and landed in the sod area abeam the rwy approximately 200 yards south of the initial touchdown point. The aircraft came to rest facing approximately 200 degrees with the entire nose gear and right main wheel detached and a destroyed propeller .

As the FAA filed it
