From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N751J sustained substantial damage when the aircraft landed gear up at Kingston Ranch Airport, NV (04NV) on 04/06/2013 at approximately 1730Z. The pilot and his one passenger did not sustain any injury.

There was no postflight fire.

The PIC stated that the flight originated from 04NV for a local flight. After approximately 30 minutes, the airplane returned for landing. The first attempt for landing resulted in a go around as a result of an animal on the runway. The PIC stated that he raised the gear for the go around. On the second attempt, the PIC elected to utilize the takeoff flap position for landing. However, with the takeoff flap setting used for landing, the gear warning horn will not activate at the reduced power setting for landing with the gear in the up position.

The PIC stated that upon landing he heard scraping sound and the airplane slid off the runway (rwy 20) on the right side. The airplane came to rest approximately midfield. The runway at 04NV is measured at 3240 by 45 feet.

Examination of the aircraft revealed damage to the propeller and flap extension arms on both wings. The engine cowling was openned and not damage was found to the engine mounts, frame, or cargo compartments aft of the firewall. There were no aircraft parts found to have separated from the aircraft. The flap control in the cockpit was found in the takeoff position. The gear handle was found in the up position.

Both left and right fuel tanks contained fuel. Total fuel onboard was approximately 60 gallons.

The accident occured on April 6, 2013, however, the PIC was unaware of the notification requirements and notified the FSDO on April 9, 2013. The aircraft was not moved since the incident occured when the on site investigation was conducted.
