From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During taxi out from hangar the aircraft engine stalled due to having the fuel selector in the closed position. Pilot turned selector to left tank and started engine. After run up was accomplished short of runway 5 aircraft departed and at about 300 feet above ground engine sputtered. Pilot leveled off and the engine fired back up again but then stopped running. Pilot initiated emergency landing procedures, attempting to land back on the runway. Pilot missed runway and landed on right side of field. Aircraft skipped once on the grass and went down a dry runoff coming to rest at the bottom of the dry runoff.
