The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 5/01/2013 at approximately 1800 CST, a hi-fly airlines (29HF) Airbus A-330, registration # cs-tfz, operating as lot polish airlines (lopf) clipped the wing tip of a lufthansa (LU7F) MD-11, registration # d-alcg. Two inspectors from the o'hare flight standards district office arrived on site at the international terminal at 1945.
The lopf aircraft had 257 passengers including 8 infants and a crew of 12. No injuries were reported. The damage to the lopf charter, hi-fly airlines aircraft, was to the left wing leading edge approximately three feet from the wing tip. The dent was found to be within limits per the structural repair maintenance manual and discussions with hi-fly engineering. The lot charter aircraft was deemed airworthy and released for service.
Incident occurred on taxi-way uniform at the run-way 14L "hold" box. The LU7F aircraft was sitting on the hold line and the lopf charter aircraft apparently did not have enough clearance to safely maneuver around the LU7F aircraft. The NTSB on duty investigator was contacted and determined that their presence was not necessary for the investigation.
A preliminary aircraft accident/incident report (8020-9) was sent to the FSDO from the regional operation center and the narrative was as follows: GEC8230 was parked in the runway 14L pad awaiting a reroute. LOT002/A332 was taxing to runway 14L via taxiway u. lot 002 was instructed to line up and wait (luaw) for runway 14L. As lot 002 started to taxi GEC8230 advised north local controller that lot 002 wing made contact with them.
