From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Description: office was notified by operator on may 15, the date of the incident. He stated that he was taxing the incident aircraft on the parallel taxiway to the active runway. During taxi he noted he was going to cause a traffic conflict with another taxing jet. At that time, he elected to depart the taxiway on to a parking area ramp to allow the jet to pass. After making the turn, the pilot realized his speed and poor brake characteristics of the aircraft were not going to allow him to stop in the remaining distance available. The pilot continued to apply the available brakes and shutdown the engine which came to a complete stop before the collision with a parked aircraft. Photos submitted by both the operator and the owner of the parked aircraft, indicate damage to two areas of the leading edge and the right wing strut of the incident aircraft. The parked aircraft seemed to have cosmetic damage only.

Causal factors: taxi speed in a vintage conventional gear aircraft. Poor braking capabilities.
