From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft took off on runway 13 for a cross country ferry flight at approximately 1200 noon on Thursday 05/23/2013. PIC stated once airborne the engine began running rough and the aircraft would not climb. PIC attempted to go around and land, but was unable to make runway. PIC landed in a pasture short of the runway and aircraft flipped upside down and came to rest on a heading of approximaely 130 degrees magnetic. Iic arrived on scene Friday 05/24/2013 at approximately 0800 CDT with PIC. Upon arrival on scene the aircraft was found intact in a pasture, upside down approximately .7 miles northwest of the end of runway 13/31. The aircraft sustained major damage to the vertical stabilizer/rudder as well as the engine firewall. Wing damage was undetermined because of damage from cattle previous to arrival. Iic was unable to determine the amount of fuel on-board or the condition of the engine.
