From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed naples FL (apf) enroute to immokalee (imm) however, approximately three miles south of departing airport N471LA started experiencing engine's low oil pressure followed by loss of engine's RPM.

Airman attempted to reach the nearest airport of Marco island, however, due to insufficient altitude he water landed in a canal adjacent to a golf course, 1.2 miles north of Marco airport.

The airplane sank in about 15 foot of water and the pilot was able to swim to safe ground without assistance.

Pilot reported a head injury, and later was hospitalized. Medical attention discovered few broken vertebras and broken thoracic ribs. The pilot was the only occupant.
