What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
During the return leg of a sight seeing flight the Robinson R-44II helicopter ditched in lake approximately 50 yards from shoreline after experiencing an undetermined loss of power. The helicopter settled into the water and was rolled to the left and began to sink in a tail low manner. All occupants exited through the r/h doors and were picked up by a fisherman in the immediate area. The helicopter sank in approximately 65 feet of water. The helicopter was retrieved from the lake and transported back to the owners hanger. After inspection the engine was found to rotate only approximately 180 degrees and stop and turned the opposite direction the same was noted. The 2A breaker for the governor was found tripped but it could not be determined if it may have been due to water submersion.
