From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While the aircraft was on a part 141 flight instructor and student training mission the engine lost engine power.

The flight crew performed a normal pre-flight run up with no noted discrepancies.

The aircraft depart runway 34 (rdd) and then turned on the crosswind leg. While the student pilot was at the controls the engine RPM started to decay to approximately 1700 RPM. The flight istructor assumed the controls to the downwind leg of the pattern and announced to the control tower his intention to return to the runway to land. At a position prior to the base leg the engine shut down inflight. The aircraft landed without incident. This report will be ammended as further information becomes availible.
