From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After touch down, aircraft veered to the right and went off runway.

During the post-accident investigation conducted by FAA inspectors and members of the NTSB the following was found:

The rudder torque tube assembly was cracked

The rudder trim was set in a full right rudder position

The rudder and assembly was recently removed and reinstalled

It was determined after further investigation by an NTSB metallurgist that the visible crack was due to the failure of a weld joint. A pre or post-accident failure could not be determined.
