From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 10:00 EDT aircraft N5545B, a Piper PA-28R-200, s/n 28R-7335236, made a gear up landing on runway 26 at Danbury Municipal Airport (hfd). The pilot was the only person onboard and no injuries were reported.

The flight was conducted under 14 CFR part 91 and was enroute from waterbury-oxford airport (oxc). Weather was visual meteorological conditions, and was not a factor.

The pilot stated that once in the pattern he became preoccupied while looking for other traffic identified by ATC and forgot to put the gear down. When asked if he heard a gear warning horn, he stated he could not recall.

Inspection of the aircraft revealed all three propeller blades had struck the runway and were bent aft. The step aft of the right wing had broken off and the transponder antenna located on the belly of the aircraft had been ground down.

The aircraft was recovered and brought to a hangar and jacked up. The gear was retracted and it was verified that the gear warning horn worked properly.
