From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Balloon attempted to land in Open field. Pilot stated he landed on an up-sloping hill, which caused the basket to tip on its side upon impact. Balloon envelope recoiled, which caused the basket to become airborne again. First and second impact with ground was hard.

Basket was then drug across the field by the envelope until the basket hit a barbed-wire fence and came to rest on its side. Pilot ejected from basket at some point.

Pilot and all passengers incurred minor injuries that ranged from cuts/abrasion, chipped teeth, stiff necks and backs, and two passengers possibly received concussions as a result of the hard landing/s. PIC states those passengers received medical attention and were told they did not incur such an injury as a concussion.

No persons or property where injured or damaged on the ground. No post crash/landing fire ensued.
