From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 07/07/2013 N94C a Luy Wayman Kit aircraft ( AC-102) lost directional control causing the aircraft to collide with a tree. At the time of the accident the pilot was attempting his second landing after he had made a go around due to high crosswinds. On the second landing the main gear of the aircraft touched down when a sudden gust of wind lifted the left wing up causing the aircraft to pivot around the right main gear turning the aircraft 50 degrees off the center of the runway. At this time the pilot attempted a go around. The aircraft started to slowly climb , but due to the steep climb and no longer being lined up with the runway , the pilot was unable to see a 45 ft oak tree in its path and collided with the tree. The pilot onboard the aircraft received serious injuries and the passenger minor injuries.
