From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot operating an amateur built experimental Kitfox departed rw 28 from S37, while climbing out, the engine lost power and quit at approximately 300 feet AGL. Pilot immediately pushed nose over, cycled mags, pumped throttle with no success. Pilot made forced landing in cornfield just off departure end of RW28. The pilot and one passenger sustained no injuries, the aircraft sustained very minor damage. Pilot reported that just before the flight the aircraft was fueled with auto gas, and during the pre take off run up of engine and mag check all seemed normal.
