From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
After taxi from the parking spot the pilot made a right hand turn to taxi to the run up area. While at the run up area the pilot noticed that the right brake felt soft but was operating normal. As he was adding engine power to depart with feet on the brakes for directional control the right brake failed and caused the aircraft to ground loop and strike the right wing tip causing damage to the right aileron and extended wing area. Upon inspection after the accident the o-ring inside the right brake master cylinder was cracked and worn.
