From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman privacy data omitted operating N154AV called Dulles ground control for taxi from landmark aviation FBO at Dulles international airport (kiad). The clearance was to taxi to runway 30 via taxiway z, hold short of alpha. As N154AV left the ramp area at landmark, airman lynn mistakingly turned onto the parallel access road instead of taxiway z. lynn contacted ground control immediately and asked for guidance to remedy his mistake. Ground was unable to see N154AV and was not able to provide guidance.

privacy data omitted Communicated with ground that he was coming up on a cargo ramp and could taxi to that point and regain taxiway z. ground asked if he could instead make a u-turn. The response was garbled.

Shortly afterwards, N154AV struck a fence near the access road with its left wing tip while attempting to reach the cargo ramp.

privacy data omitted Shut down the aircraft and alerted ground control. At 1908Z airport operations escorted FSDO personnel to the site. There were no injuries.

As the FAA filed it

AIRMAN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OPERATING N154AV CALLED DULLES GROUND CONTROL FOR TAXI FROM LANDMARK AVIATION FBO AT DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KIAD).

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ COMMUNICATED WITH GROUND THAT HE WAS COMING UP ON A CARGO RAMP AND COULD TAXI TO THAT POINT AND REGAIN TAXIWAY Z.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SHUT DOWN THE AIRCRAFT AND ALERTED GROUND CONTROL. AT 1908Z AIRPORT OPERATIONS ESCORTED FSDO PERSONNEL TO THE SITE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.
