From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot initiated the takeoff on runway 19 from intersection kilo. Initial lift off appeared normal followed by an early landing gear retraction. Climbing through the intersection of runways 3-21, the pilot excitedly declared an unspecified emergency and the aircraft began to descend as though to land. A pilot "ear-witness" nearby heard an abrupt loss of propulsion noise at this time. The aircraft descended to within about 10 feet of the runway at which time the engine began producing power again. The aircraft was observed to resume a climb on the runway heading to approximately 300-400 feet, whereupon the pilot again declared an emergency and began a right-hand turn of increasing bank to return to the airport. The aircraft appeared to stall during the turn and entered an incipient spin just prior to impact in a near vertical attitude in the river bottoms south of the levee and just north of the river at the south-southwest airport boundary.

As the FAA filed it
