From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot-in command was traveling from lewis university airport (klot) to whiteside airport (ksqi). The PIC believed that he had enough fuel to make a stop at aurora airport (karr). The PIC took off from lewis university at approximately 1715 CDT. At approximately 6.6 miles from aurora airport (arr) the engine stopped from fuel starvation and the PIC was forced to land in a field. Upon landing in a field the plane flipped over and came to rest upside down. There were no injuries to pilot or passenger and minimal damage was done to the experimental aircraft.
