From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Friday September 27, 2013, pilot and passenger departed from guthrie edmond regional airport , guthrie Oklahoma (kgok) to west lafayette Indiana with an intermediate rest stop at St. Charles county airport St. Charles Missouri 63301. (Kset). This was a personal CFR part 91 flight. After a normal VFR flight for 2 hours and 55 minutes, at approximately 12:21 pm the engine quit running. The pilot looked first for kset airport but was forced to land in an open grooved (plowed) field (approximately 7 NM south south west from kset). The pilot completed a power-off emergency landing to the filed. No emergency was declared. The pilot secured the aircraft systems after landing. There were no injuries. The St. Charles fire department was notified and they responded. The stl FSDO was notified. FAA inspectors responded to the location of the aircraft. After completing the initial onsight investigation, FAA inspectors released the aircraft to be moved via roads to kset for temporary storage until a detailed airworthiness investigation of the aircraft could be conducted. Before the detailed airworthiness investigation could be completed, the government was shut down and all aviation safety inspectors were furloughed. Due to the extended government furlough, the aircraft was returned to Oklahoma city (kpwa), on 10-14-2013, without this portion of the investigation being conducted.

After a review of the maintenance records it was determined the aircraft was within inspection at the time of the incident. This office sent a letter to the registered owner recommending an inspection of the fuel and fuel indicating systems on the aircraft.
