From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft wreckage was discovered adjacent to runway 02C by airport operations personnel after debris on the runway was reported by a taxiing aircraft. Aircraft impacted runway approximately 500 feet from the approach end of the runway. Witness marks left by the aircraft indicate the aircraft heading was approximately 040 degrees upon impact. The wreckage came to rest approximately 500 feet from the impact site with the engine approximately 240 feet past the main fuselage wreckage. The fuselage and aircraft cabin were consumed by a post-crash fire. The remains of the sole occupant of the aircraft were located approximately 15 feet in front of the main fuselage wreckage. Actual time of the accident is unknown. The last aircraft to takeoff from that runway did so at approximately 01:30 local time and the wreckage was discovered at approximately 09:30. Weather reports indicate the visibility throughout this time frame averaged 1/4 mile in fog.
