What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The flight instructor had the flight controls for a normal, full stop landing on runway 11 at kcoi. When braking after touchdown, the airplane started turning right. The instructor applied full left rudder and left brake, but the airplane continued turning right. Just prior to the taxiway the instructor intended to exit, A-4 the aircraft veered off into the grass at low speed. The right wing struck the A4 taxiway sign, which gave way. The aircraft spun to the northwest and came to a stop partially in the grass.
The left brake on the passenger side apparently failed, and once the free castering nosewheel turned right from the initial brake application there was insufficient left brake pressure to straighten it. After stopping, it was found that the pilot side brakes still had good pressure.
