From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 12/01/2013 at approximately 2325 local time, N2808T, a Piper arrow conducted a missed approach over runway 24 at the Teterboro airport and reported a gear problem. The tower reported that the gear appeared to be down. When the aircraft returned to runway 19 it suffered a complete landing gear collapse upon touchdown. The pilot was identified as privacy data omitted holder of private pilot certificate privacy data omitted

According to the privacy data omitted the aircraft was on approach into Teterboro when all three gear indication lights, as well as the red gear unsafe light, did not illuminate. The gear was cycled up and down, which resulted in still no indication that the gear was down and locked. He climbed to traffic pattern altitude and decided to leave the gear selector in the down position while he attempted to g-load the airplane to get the gear to lock into place. The gear indication lights still would not illuminate. privacy data omitted Circled the pattern and returned to land on runway 19. Upon landing he felt the wheels touchdown and then all three landing gear collapsed.

N2808T sustained damage to the propeller, flaps, and multiple locations on the belly. The aircraft was removed from the runway and relocated to the landmark aviation ramp. When the iic arrived at the scene, the aircraft was found to have the landing gear ?cont. / lights? Circuit breaker popped. The emergency gear extension lever was found to be in normal position. The cause of the popped circuit breaker is not yet known. Emergency gear extension procedures were not followed as documented in the aircraft?s POH and/or checklist by the PIC. privacy data omitted Informed an aviation safety inspector that he did not use the emergency gear extension because he did not feel it was necessary.
