From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Acft touched down on main gear at myf. As nose gear came in contact with runway, both pilots heard a loud bang. The nose wheel started to shimmy/vibrate rapidly. After a few seconds the nose wheel jammed in the full right position causing the nose wheel to act as a brake. At that time the nose dipped and the aircraft turned right causing a prop strike and the left wing tip to come in contact with the runway. Acft will have wings removed and moved to chino airport for repairs. No determination as to what failed in the nose gear at this time. Two individuals on board the aircraft. No injuries reported.

The PIC, privacy data omitted is from santee, CA. He stated: "I have participated in the wings program. I have taken many of the wings program courses online. I have paid for flight instruction directly related to the wings program. I have attended several aopa sponsored safety meetings through it has been a couple of years since I attended one". The pilot in the right seat (privacy data omitted is from phoenix, AZ.
