From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was repositioning from oakland, CA to manila, philippines. The aircraft departed marjuro after a fuel stop at approximately 0900 on dec 19, 2013. The pilots first smelled then saw smoke in the cabin after the heard what the PIC described as a pop. The crew returned to marjuro without further incident. Further examination of the cabin after landing revealed that the computer for the camera mounted on the aircraft was the source of the smoke and electrical burning smell. The current limiter for the camera system opened the electrical contact to the camera system upon the computer failure. A pc board in the computer unit failed.
