From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On landing at nehalem bay state airport near manzanita Oregon the pilot stated the wind picked up the aircraft and slammed it down on the runway. The aircraft bounced hard and damaged the right landing gear. He added power after it bounced and flew the aircraft to Tillamook Airport at Tillamook, Oregon. He then landed in the grass area between the runway and taxiway. The previous damage to the right gear caused the aircraft to collapse onto the right wing tip. The investigation revealed the right landing gear bent forward and additional damage to the area of the fuselage surrounding the landinge attachement point. The pilot stated he chose to fly to Tillamook because of the short length of the runway at nehalem and it being bordered by trees.

As the FAA filed it
