From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While approaching to land grass strip at night pilot drifted off course, then attempted to salvage approach by conducting a short approach.

Aircraft right wing contacted 1st set of trees in flight 40 feet up and 70KTS with flaps extended, substantial damage to right wing.

Aircraft then drifted to right and 75 yards later contacted a second row of trees causing more damage to right wing and some damage to left inboard wing area inside propellor arc next to fuselage wing root.

Aircraft then spun 180 degrees and flew backwards until contact with ground and last row of trees stopping the aircraft. Last impact caused substantial damage to all landing gear.

Pilot then evacuated the aircraft.

During investigation no fuel was noted in the left wing tank and the left engine propellor appear to be undamaged. No signs of fuel spillage anywhere. Right wing tank was about 2/3 full. privacy data omitted Said both engines were providing power during the approach. privacy data omitted Did not indicate the left engine was abnormal.

During the investigation on site a person drove up to the accident aircraft. He informed me privacy data omitted had hired him and that he was here to remove the aircraft and bury it. Jjm informed local law enforcement and tractor driver was denied permission to move the aircraft.

Upon completion of the investigation NTSB verbally released wreckage to privacy data omitted. Immediately the bucket tractor moved the aircraft and commenced to mow the area with his brush hog attachment.

As the FAA filed it

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SAID BOTH ENGINES WERE PROVIDING POWER DURING THE APPROACH. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DID NOT INDICATE THE LEFT ENGINE WAS ABNORMAL.

DURING THE INVESTIGATION ON SITE A PERSON DROVE UP TO THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT. HE INFORMED ME ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD HIRED HIM AND THAT HE WAS HERE TO REMOVE THE AIRCRAFT AND BURY IT. JJM INFORMED LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND TRACTOR DRIVER WAS DENIED PERMISSION TO MOVE THE AIRCRAFT.

UPON COMPLETION OF THE INVESTIGATION NTSB VERBALLY RELEASED WRECKAGE TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. IMMEDIATELY THE BUCKET TRACTOR MOVED THE AIRCRAFT AND COMMENCED TO MOW THE AREA WITH HIS BRUSH HOG ATTACHMENT.
