From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot initiated descent with no power change but trimmed the aircraft for 100 feet per minute descent, when the engine quit. He attempted to restart the engine which only ran for 2 or 3 seconds and quit again. At that point he turned towards an off airport landing in a field. Another turn to avoid power lines and line up for final approach towards a ridge. The flare popped the aircraft over the ridge and landed followed by immediate flip over onto the aircrafts back. The pilot smelled fuel and extracted himself and his wife to a safe distance from the aircraft. Fss was contacted by phone to report accident.
