From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot and tower personnel reported that the approach and landing were normal. The pilot reported that when the nose came down, the left gear collapsed. The airplane then went off the side of the runway. An examination of the aircraft, showed that the left main tire had a side load, when it touched down. It also was locked up. This caused a 2 inch hole in the tire. This caused the tire to deflate putting an additional load on the gear, causing it to collapse.

When the plane was put on jacks, the tire rotated, without any issues, indicating the pilot might have had his foot on the break.

As the FAA filed it
