From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed cruise flight with loss of power and diverted to rck Rockdale, TX (rck). In visual flight conditions pilot made an off-airport landing due to lack of altitude to make the selected diversion airport. Upon contact the aircraft rolled approximately 120 yards striking uneven terrain. The left main gear was forced shut over the inboard gear door. The right main gear assembly was destroyed along with both gear doors. Shortly thereafter the nose gear was pushed up into the nose gear wheel well shearing off both nose gear doors damaging cowling gear well. During contact with the uneven terrrain, the left wing tip gas tank was severed from left wing destroying the wing tip end cap and wing spar beyond repair. The right wing came in contact with a juvenile mesquite tree at the outboard leading edge inside the right wing tip tank installation penetrating through to right wing leading edge twisting right wing spar. The aircraft pivoted around the mesquite root clockwise approximately 300 degrees. Empennage assembly and fuselage appear slightly damaged. Control surfaces were intact and deformed during ground contact.

At the time of field inspection all the elements for powered flight were present on aircraft. Flight controls were intact and properly rigged.

As the FAA filed it
