From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

According to the pilot flying (former owner), the flight departed grass valley, CA VFR bound for a fuel stop at wendover, UT. The pilot in command, also rated in the BAE-167, noted anomalies during the start and departure. After takeoff, more problems developed and the decision was made to make a precautionary landing at Lovelock, NV to further investigate the airspeed and altitude fluctuations experienced after takeoff from the grass valley airport. The pilot flying reduced the power to idle and began a rapid descent from 17,500 MSL to land at Lovelock, NV. After configuring for the landing, the high drag configuration required power to complete the landing on the runway. The pilot flying selected full power with no response from the engine and subsequently landed short of the runway shearing off the right landing gear, collapsing the nose and the left main gear then coming to rest on the approach end of runway 20.

As the FAA filed it
