From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The crew and a maintenance observer was performing a flight from fort lauderdale executive airport (kfxe) to execute system checks after maintenance. While in cruise flight at 16,000 feet the crew had turned the aircraft to return to kfxe when the crew and maintenance observer heard a 'loud explosion' and the engine indications for the right engine were lost. The crew reacted to the loss of engine indication as an engine failure, they shut down the engine and declared an emergency. The aircraft landed at kfxe without an further incident. After disembarking the aircraft the crew discovered that the right engine cowling had separated from the aircraft
