From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At 1339 adt a Navion single engine aircraft made a gear up landing at tka. According to the flight service station (fss) employee who was on duty at the time of the incident, the pilot radioed in stating that he was ?10 miles south of tka?. The fss employee stated that the aircraft appeared to have been making a somewhat straight in approach but was higher than normal and fast. The employee watched the approaching aircraft until it was about 500 feet off the ground and then turned their attention to multiple aircraft calling in and relaying ground movements. When the employee looked back all they saw was a large cloud of dust and very little clearance between the aircraft and the runway. The employee did not recall seeing the landing gear system transition from down to up while sliding down the runway.

An inspection of the aircrafts main landing gear did not reveal any damage consistent with the landing gear folding up after landing. When the aircraft was lifted the gear extended and locked into place.

As the FAA filed it
