From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed Nephi Utah (U14) for a local glider flight. The pilot stated that he had turned final being lined up with runway 17. He then decided to line up and land on what he thought was a grass strip west of that runway. He had actually lined up on a field with two culverts. He noticed the first culvert just before landing, and struck the culvert with the forward fuselage belly of the aircraft. The aircraft bounced and then hit a second culvert with the belly tail wheel area of the aircraft and then came to rest in the field.
