From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

During FAA inspector kuc investingation it was determined on July 5, 2014 , at 1400, N86310 during cruise flight the operator reported the engine failed. The aircraft made a landing in an opening just south/west of Alfred , NY. The operator had stated there were no injuries and included one passenger. He stated he did not report the incident because he had reviewed the NTSB rule and it did not fall within the accident definition.

This inspector went to the aircraft but by the time of my arrival the aircraft fuselage was already on the flat bed of a truck and the wings removed. Picures where taken and damage appeared to be consistant with a stopped engine. The propeller substained no damage and the engine appeared to be in good physical condition. The aircraft front gear were damaged and bent.

The pilot ^(dale tubbs)^ reported the aux tank was selected and 4 to 6 inches remained in the tank. Dale reported sticking the tank . The aircraft was moved to costa flying service, a local maintenance facility at painted post.
