From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This aircraft was operated under an experimental market survey certificate. It was being demonstrated to military persons at Camp Atterbury for undisclosed types of operations. Following repeated flight demonstrations from a particular landing site, the aircraft was moved to a different take-off site. The new site was narrower than the previous site used for the demonstrations. The new site was described by the pilot as little wider than the canopy of the aircraft. On the takeoff roll, just prior to achieving full lift from the canopy, a wheel of the aircraft edged off of runway, resulting in the aircraft departing the makeshift runway. The aircraft proceeded down an embankment, upsetting the aircraft.

The aircraft sustained minor damage consisting of:

A broken propeller ? The ?hoop ring? Which protects the parachute cord from the propeller was bent inward and contacted the propeller, damaging one of the three propeller blades. The right nav/strobe combo light assembly was damaged. The right front tire camber knocked out of adjustment.

As the FAA filed it
