From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 21, 2014, at 0855 MDT, N3083W, a van?s RV-9A, a single engine, amateur built airplane, was returning to the double eagle ii airport (aeg), Albuquerque, NM, after a practice flight south of the airport. The weather was visual meteorological conditions and the flight was conducted under visual flight rules. Under tower control, the aircraft made a normal approach to runway 22. At touchdown, the aircraft bounced and began to porpoise as the pilot attempted to complete the landing. After three cycles, the aircraft came down nose first, striking the ground with enough force to deflate the nose tire, bend the nose gear to the rear and break the wheel pant off of its attaching points. The pilot taxied the aircraft off of runway 22 onto taxiway A-5, shut it down and informed the tower that the aircraft was disabled. The damage was limited to the nose gear, wheel and tire, along with the nose wheel pant. The pilot and the passenger were not injured.
