From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed runway 16 at South Valley Regional Airport (U42) at approximately 0901 local time. Aircraft impacted the ground at an approximate heading of 140 degrees, approximately 330 feet west of runway centerline and 3000 feet south of departure end of runway. Aircraft ricocheted over a berm, striking the left wing on the base of a light post. The left wing was detached from the aircraft at approximately 1/2 span which turned the aircraft to the left because of the left wing/light post impact. The aircraft came to rest at a heading of 060 degrees 137 feet from the point of initial impact, caught fire and burned the inboard left wing, engine, cockpit and cabin areas of the aircraft. The pilot and two passengers were pulled from the aircraft by good samaritans.
