From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Received report from roc on an aircraft that suffered a NLG collapse on landing at tki. Dispatched to investigate, found aircraft already towed off runway and tied down on ramp. Pilot already had left area. Aircraft suffered minor damage to cowling and nose wheel pant. Nose gear leg was bent. Propeller delaminated from runway contact. Pics of damage taken. Weather was clear/partly cloudy approx 90 degrees. Winds 4 knots from the south.

Spoke to pilot on telephone and he stated the following "had left ADS and performed 3 successful approach/land/taxi/takeoff operations at tki. On 4th attempt, touchdown on mains at approx 62 knots, as the nose came down heard a pop. Eased back on stick to relieve pressure, thinking maybe the nose wheel was missaligned (free castering nose wheel). As nose settled back it popped again and this time flipped the aircraft up on its nose. Skidded down runway approx 100 feet to a stop. No injuries. NLG was collapsed under fuselage. Aircraft was raised and NLG lowered into place. (Non retract gear). Aircraft towed to ramp.

Spoke to tower personnel on duty and was told they did not see the approach or landing, only noticing when the aircraft went up on its nose.
