From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

It appears the pilot privacy data omitted ? Dob 11/25/1959) and his brother privacy data omitted ? Dob 1/30/1962 ? Deceased) were flying to swansboro airport, swansboro, California, to attend a party given by the community. He was circling the airport to determine, I was told by the on scene deputy, if he should land at swansboro or at Placerville (pvf) and drive over. He was in radio contact with the hostess of the ?hanger party? While circling. Radio contact was lost about 18:40 PDT and she received a cell phone call at 18:53 PDT from the pilot saying he had crashed. At this time no witnesses have come forward or been identified.

The first responder said he smelled and saw fuel but the stain he showed me in the dirt was enough, in my opinion, to have been only a couple gallons. He also cut a fuel line during the recovery process and said fuel came out but only what he would call residual. I could still faintly smell fuel about 12 hours after the accident.

This report will be ammended as further information becomes available.
